Dizzyness

About four weeks ago, I had a 2 by 4 board fall 18 feet onto my head.  I went to the emergency room, and they stiched me up, and I was fine.  Then, about a week ago, I started getting these really bad dizzy spells.  They hit me at different times and are pretty much the same intensisty.  I get them regardless of weather I am siiting, standing, walking, reading, and so on.  I feel that it is possibly caused from the accident.  Should I be worried, or do you think it will go away?

Dear Becky,

It is unfortunate you were injured.  The sequelae (effects) of head injury vary from person to person.
Symptoms such as dizziness should be reported to your physician.
There are some factors which tend to make some head injuries worse than others; loss of consciousness and duration, extent of memory loss, headache, open wound, nausea, vomiting and degree of dizziness.
Again, discuss your concerns with your physician.

PLEASE call your doctor right away.  You may need to see a neurologist. It may be something not very serious that will go away, it could be possibly not  related to your fall, or it could be very serious. Why take a chance with your life??  -- and ANY head injury, even a simple bump, can have potentially serious after effects.... that's why , when you have an unexpected symptom, like the dizziness you describe,  you definitely need to call a doctor.

I'm not a doctor, by the way, just a concerned person with some medical background.
