Does Alcohol Consumption Effect Zolofts Ability To Work?

I am a 24 year old male who was recently put on Zoloft 25mg.  I am taking it for Social Anxiety among other problems but had a question about drinking.  I have recently cut back to only the weekends but after reading some rumors about alcohol affecting Zolofts ability to work I've become nervous.  I'd like to stress that the drinking is not real important, as it shouldn't be, but I'm young and like to go out on occasion.  My question is, if I drink those two days a week (5-10 drinks), how bad will that effect the Zoloft?  I have had little to no side effects since taking it, even when I have drank but I know I need help with my anxiety and need this drug to work. Since I am taking a small dose will the alcohol render the Zoloft useless?  Any help would be appreciated.

alcohol use, especially the way you have described it, does not make the zolof impotent, but drinking and zoloft can occassionally lead to neurological symptoms like black out, fainting, low blood pressure, etc. Although it is not always dangerous, it can be.
