Hi Magpie66
Boy I sure have a lot in common with you. My need to keep the house spotless makes me feel extremely agitated and overwhelmed, I'm 50 and have a 7 year old and a 16 year old, work full time and when I try to clean he clutter that accumulates I get so anxious I wind up shuffling papers around. I took Zoloft for post partum depression and had insomnia for two weeks - was quite agitated. When the doctor added Adivan, I calmed down. Didn't gain wait on Zoloft. After feeling better, I was off meds for a year and then my son came down with OCD and I freaked. Since then I've been taking Xanax and tried several anti-depressants. I noticed weight gain began when taking Paxil. My doctor tried Wellbutrin for that, but no luck. I am now taking Lexapro, Xanax and Inderal, a beta blocker. I have gone from 125 lbs (a little thin for me) to 170 lbs in three years. Now I'm worried that the Inderal will increase the weight gain, but I'm having palpitations and lots of agitation so I felt I should give it a try. The Lexapro seems to have the fewest side effects, but I don't know how much it does for the anxiety.
I switched from Prozac to Zoloft many years ago and I was the opposite! The Prozac "jitters" melted away after the Zoloft took effect. I have taken Zoloft 13 years! Ok, I am having some poop-out symptoms now, but my therapist is suggesting Luvox for the obcessive/compulsive symptoms I have that are similar to yours.
For most people, the agitation effects does level out,but some people are extremely sensitive so you may have to continually adjust the dose if this continues. Re the dreams, they may be more related to what is being worked out under the surface then the medication itself.....
