Effexor: How to increase my dosage?

I'm currently taking 75mg of Effexor daily, divided into two doses. So two 37.5mg pills a day. My doc is increasing my dosage to 150mg daily by adding a third pill to my daily regimen this week and then a fourth pill next week or the week after. So this week I'm taking three pills a day and eventually will be taking four pills a day. I won't be taking the XR (controlled release) since I've already tried it and found it intolerable.

My doc has left it up to me to decide how I want to take the pills, either spreading them out throughout the day or increasing the amount I take at once. In other words, taking one 37.5mg dose four times a day or taking a 75mg dose twice a day. Does it make a difference? Is it better to get a higher dosage in my system at once or spread it out throughout the day? I'm assuming I should be taking 75mg in the morning and 75mg in the evening, but I'm not sure. The Effexor has had zero affect on me so far, so I have no idea what "works" and what doesn't. Thanks!

After the first couple of days it does not make any difference since it will smooth out and give you a constant blood level of medication.  Do what is easiest for you to do on a regular basis.
