Effexor to Wellbutrin

Hi ,

Have been on Effexor for about 7 months. I am switching from Effexor 75 to Wellbutrin SR 150. I want to know,is it better to begin the Wellbutrin and then wean off the Effexor or wean first then start Wellbutrin ? I asked my dr, she told me it made no difference, she also downplayed the withdrawls, judging from this site I am in for a treat. Please help .....I'de like to have as minimal side effects as possible obviously .......Thanks ,

I usually recommend that you start lowering dose of effexor, but start wellbutrin before you stop effexor...that way you will get a much smoother changeover.

I weaned off of Prozac while staring the Wellbutrin and experienced no side effects at all...

I took Wellbutrin sr 150 twice a day for a month and did fine. When Dr gave me a new prescription he gave me Wellbutrin XL 300 once a day. I have noticed with the XL that I am staying hungry. Has this happened with anyone. I am taking it for depression and I have stopped smoking....

I have been trying to wean off of Effexor for a couple of weeks. Whenever I get to the 3rd day I feel like I am losing my mind. My head, face, mouth, tongue go numb, my arms and hands start to tingle like they are falling asleep. I am exhausted and can hardly get out of bed. I end up having to take a pill to make it through the day. I started this drug a year ago, never took more than 75mg per day. If I would of known how nasty this stuff was I never would have taken it. I feel like it has ruined my life.

I stopped Effexor on Wednesday, started Wellbutrin on Thursday, by Saturday, I was thinking of ways to commit suicide........Went back to Effexor on Monday, Tuesday was completely fine.

So far, it's been rough getting off effexor but after about 9 days, I have less dizzinessand am starting see see light. It remains to be seen how the welbutrin will work but I'm told I look a lot more with it or alive so far.
