Frequent urination

Frequent urination

I understand that frequent urination can be caused by anxiety. How exactly is this so.What physical occurrence is taking place when in this mental state?I have been to 10 or more urologists, and they have not given me any physiological explanation as to what si going on.If anybody could answer this,I would feel much releived mentally, because I have been constantly worrying all my waking hours in fear that something was bad wrong with me(kidneys,bladder,etc...)Thanks!!!

Dear Hal

From the limited information that is provided, it is difficult to precisely say whether your frequent urination is due to anxiety or due to any other medical condition. Since you are cleared by Urologist, you can assume that your kidneys and bladder are functioning normally. Anxiety is an unpleasant, vague sensation of apprehension. Anxiety is manifested in the form of diarrhea, dizziness, palpitations, restlessness, upset stomach, urinary frequency etc. Stimulation of the autonomic nervous system seem to be the contributing factor for these symptoms.  Urinary frequency can be caused by several other medical conditions also. I would recommend that you get a comprehensive evaluation by a physician before consulting a mental health professional.
