Frontal Lobe Dementia

My Dad (65yrs) has had Alzheimers ruled out.  Doctors say it looks possible as FLD. To deal with this he was put on Wellbutrin for depression.  I spent 3 weeks with him in August. He was put on Wellbutrin in September.
He just came to visit me this month (November).  I saw a huge difference with confusion trying to figure stuff out in his head, and struggling to find the words he was looking for. Kind of like stuttering or long pauses.  I am trying to see if Wellbutrin can be causing this?   I hope, if it is the FLD that it would not progress so quickly. (two months)

Normal to me for three weeks in August, maybe a little depression, First week in November huge difference.

I am going to see his Neurologist next month with him, as well as his psychiatrist. I would like to see if the Wellbutrin could be affecting him and if there is another route to take.  If it is the Wellbutrin, it would be nice to know that the possible FLD isnt happening so quickly.  Wellbutrin, came from the  Psychiatrist.

Thanks very much.

Ordinarily you would not expect this response from wellbutrin but when brain pathology is part of the picture, any medicaiton that affects the brain directly can tip the balance in the wrong direction.  Ask your doctor for a trial without the medication to help answer the question.
