Help with fluoxetine

Hello, I am currently taking fluoxetine for anxiety and depression. I started at 10mg a month ago and after 2 weeks had to go down to 5mg because of the anxiety getting much worse and my moods getting so low. I was doing well on the 5mg for a couple of weeks so I now went back to 10mg as my doctor would like to see me get to 20mg. It has been 5 days since the increase and the anxiety is really bad again and my mood seems very low. I take lorazapam along with this to help get through it. It is typical to have this happen and will it subside? if so how long? I don't want to become so dependant on my lorazapam that I can't stop those when I need to. If that is the case I might as well just take them.
I am wondering is 5mg a good dose and can it be helpful for someone who has both anxiety and depression? Should I just try to stay at 5 mg for several weeks along with the lorazapam and see what happens, or do you have any suggestions as to other meds that may work better for me.
I seem to have been on a rollercoaster ride of meds lately and just want to find the one that works best.

Thanks, Jimbo49

You should be seeing  a psychiatrist, not just trying to figure out the right dose by yourself, especially changing so early and so often only makes matters worse.  You should look at what is going on in your life that makes you anxious and depressed, and do that with a therapist, and use the medications only to take the edge off.  You seem very sensitive to the stimulant aspects of this medication since the 5 mgm dose is very small, and not considered high enough to be therapeutic.  You may be better off treating the anxiety than trying to treat the depression.
