How much till you are addicted

How much till you are addicted

My therapist recently advised that I go on 50 mg. Zoloft for depression.  I take the Zoloft at night. In the morning I wake up with severe anxiety.  I am gittery, anxious and almost frantic.  After that I cut the Zoloft in half and will resume to 50 after a week or so (at the advise of my physician). I was then advised to take .25 Xanax to control the anxiety until the Zoloft takes full effect.  I take the Xanax first thing in the morning, at the first sign that the anxiety is there.  It relieves the anxiety and I am fine for the rest of the day.  Am I at risk for withdrawal if I stop taking the Xanax?  How long is the Xanax effective for?  And, if I am feeling ok at the end of the day, after the Xanax is out of my system, does that mean I am not becoming addicted?  I am getting a lot of grief from friends and family about becoming addicted and it makes me worry that maybe I am.

If you do this for only another week or two, and don't increase the frequency of the xanax, you will not have a problem stopping it....if you can stop it sooner, or start taking it every other day, that would even be better.

I don't think you'll have much trouble, not at that dose.  DO take the Zoloft, however.  If will help in the long run.

A new opinion ??  There is NOT a small enough dose or a short enough term of usage to survive XANAX.  Any doctor who tells you differently will not agree to pay for your detox, nursing home or your funeral.  Never please---- never take Xanax.  It is a liar.  It tells you, "You are ok" --dead brain cells do not ever come back.
