I would like some advice please?

I'm 16. I've heard people with mental illnesses usually don't know they are sick. But I know something's wrong, and after months of research it all leads to schizophrenia.
I've been feeling this way for a little over a year. I have nobody to talk to, nobody that will understand. I have issues with face to face confrentation, this is because I can read people very well, and I don't always like to know what they're really thinking.
I have tried online counceling and the only advice I got was "try going for a walk"
I go for many walks to be alone and think, and I usually have more to think about when the walk is over than when it started.
I wish I could go somewhere to get help, but I'm afraid people won't believe me if I tell them about what I've been going through this past while. If I went to get diagnosed so I could start treatment, and they wouldn't diagnose me... I don't know whatd I do.

Karen, it is important to talk to a professional about this, and it may not be nearly as bas as you think, but even if there is a problem, treatment is very successful in your age group. The first people to talk to you are your parents...they have to be involved..they may not have to know everything, but enough to know that they should schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist for you..not a general doctor, but a psychiatrist or a psychologist.  You need only go for a consultation, and then follow the recommendations from there on.

Hello,
I am from Newfoundland, Canada.  My son has obsessive compulsive disorder.  I had depression for many years and didn't know what it was.  I was afraid to tell a doctor, it scared me.  Don't be afraid.  Tell a doctor how you are feeling, don't suffer in silence.  Try to get a diagnosis.  Talk to your school nurse or counsellor, and don't put it off.  It is a common illness and nothing to be ashamed of.  I just joined this site and hope to find help here also.  Message me anytime, I hope I have been some help.  Look up Mental Health in the phonebook, or try a mental health hotline.  Anything.  Please let us know if you got help ok.  You're not alone, we're here for you.  Good luck with it and don't be afraid ok.

I have the same problem with talking to people face to face. I get all nervous and forget what I was going to say or ask the doctors. Please know that I am not a doctor so this is just advice that might help.
Try writing down how you feel, things that are happening to you, and questions you may have for the doctor. Do these things now before you see the Dr. That way when you do have an appointment you can bring it with you and go from there. I don't think that a Dr. would even be opposed to reading what you wrote, if you don't feel comfortable telling him/her.
Of course finding the right Dr. for YOU plays a very important part. So if you don't like a Dr. you are seeing there is nothing wrong with changing. It is your choice.
If you don't have funds to see a Dr. try giving what you wrote to a parent, close friend, or relative. Someone you can trust. Have them read it and perhaps they can be of great help to you. In this way you don't have to place yourself out there completely by talking face to face. Never leave mental issues alone. Let your woman's intuition work and do the best you can to get the help you need.( I assumed you are female due to the Karen in your name)
Well I hope you receive the help you need and soon. It is no fun living in an upside down state. Continue to grow in the knowledge of yourself.
