Incorrect medication

I've been on Seroxat for 2 mos. and suffered bad side affects. 3 weeks ago the pharmacist gave me Resital saying they dont have Seroxat and its the same as Seroxat (Paxil).  I took it.  At the same time I began having terrible nicotine crave (I gave up smoking 9 years ago), headaches, body, hand shake, high b.p. and terrible nightmares I'd either wake up screaming and once my husband said signing.  Of course we both would not sleep.  I was home for 8 days I just had to rest after I had a terrible fight with my boss which led to a stress attack, hysteria, and uncontrollable crying fits.  By chance I was at another chemist the other day and found out that a mistake had been made and instead of giving me Paxxet I was given Resital. I spoke to my psychiatrist today and he was furious because of the mistake and said its all one family of drugs and now everyone is trying to hush it all up so I wont press a claim for damages.  I nearly lost my job because of my stress attack.  Pls could you adv. whats the difference between Resital, and Paxxet, and do I go through all the side affects again and could what happened to me result from taking wrong medication for 3 weeks without gradual withdrawal of the seroxat?   What are the different components between the Resital and Paxxet?  Thanks for your help.  P.S. I have gone back to Seroxat.

I am sorry but everyone of the medications you listed is not listed in the physicians reference book which is quite comprehensive.   Do you have other names for these medications.  Paxil is familiar, and an abrupt withdrawal from Paxil can defintely cause the symptoms you described.  Returning to Paxil should not cause you additional problems, but should relieve your symptoms as  much as it did before all of this.

TY for your response.  I have the correct names

I was taking Seroxat (Paroxetine) 20 mg (as HCI)

By mistake was given Recital (Citalopram) as HBr

Now I have begun Paxxet (Paroxetine as HCI) 20mg

When I first began Seroxat I had bad side affects which improved.  Then with Recital they began again with even worse side affects.  Now I am back to Paxxet and sleep very badly as I have terrible nightmares every night waking up exhausted and with terrible headaches.  All due to mistake by our local pharmacist.

Pls explain the difference between Paroxetine and Citalopram, and reoccurrence of side affects having stopped Paroxetine suddenly and returning back to it after 3 weeks.  Is it logical that I go thru' all the side affects with Paroxetine once again?
