Just started PAXIl...I'm Miserable!

I started 20mg of Paxil 4 days ago for anxiety.  I was already feeling dizzy and lightheaded before i took the medication and now its WORSE!  My Dr. suggested taking half in the morning and half at night, so hopefuly these feeling will go away?  I feel anxious, and I've also had a few hot flashes!  Is this normal, and are these all side effects that will go away in a few weeks?  I'm desperate to feel like my self again.  Also on top of taking the Paxil, he put me on Lorazepam I guess to help with the sideeffects, but it just seem to make me tired all day.  Will i get through this?  Thanks

the advice you received from jessi63 is good advice.  Often people try several antidepressants before the one that works well for them.  Paxil sometimes is miraculous, other times causes side effects for a long time that are difficult to tolerate.

Yes, You will get through this!!!!!!!!  Have you looked up Paxil and its side effects.  I was on Zoloft for many years and was just switched to Celexa.  I loved the Zoloft it controlled my anxiety very well.  No one that I know liked Paxil.  They all had horrible side effects and quit taking it.  As for the Lorazepam, whats the dose? Maybe you could split them in half.  Call a local pharmacy and they call tell you whether or not you can split them.  Also I would recommend contacting your doctor.  There are many antidepressants out there that can treat anxiety and not make you feel so horrible.  Be strong.
