Lack of short term memory

Lack of short term memory

Hi to all,
I have been prescribed dextroamphetamine for the last 8 yrs for inattentive ADD and they help in everyday life. I'm a chef hence the need for multi-tasking and strong concentration for long periods. I suffer from a very short term memory but generally only with names, words and numbers. I have a very visual memory, ie i can remember how to get somewhere after one try but won't remember any of the street names even after doing the drive many times over. Even moving from my service bench to the coolroom, i often find myself wondering what i was getting, one of the reasons i walk so fast.

I also have a slight tremor in both hands predominately the right, i am right handed. I have seen a neurologist and have had a mri scan done. The neurologist didn't find anything to note.

Back to the topic thou, I am trying to find out if there is a way of increasing my memory and if it has been affected by the use of dexamphetamine. I am trying to learn german at the moment and it's one hell of a trial.
Any help or advice or anything will be very helpful, thanks
Miles

Your memory may not have been directly affected by the amphetamine, but your metabolism may have changed and you may not it as much or as often as before...try lowering the dose or the frequency, and see whether or not that helps with the memory issue...it might, and would be the first thing to try.

Hi,

German is a very hard language to learn.  I took a year of it in High School and a year in College and still only know a few sentences!
