Sheri,

Based on the information you have provided it is impossible for me to give you a diagnosis.  Memory problems by themself are not sufficient to make a diagnosis of dementia. People can have memory problems for a variety of reasons.  Depression and anxiety are a couple of common causes.  First and foremost medical conditons need to be ruled out and then a psychiatric evaluation may be helpful. It may be helpful to express these concerns to your primary care doctor who knows you best. Your primary care doctor can do a neurological exam prior to your appointment with the neurologist to rule out emergent problems.  This information is intended for general educational purposes only. Always consult your personal physician for specific health concerns.

Sincerely,

HFHS MD-JM

I assume you  started with consulting your own physician.  He is the most qualified person to evaluate the entire picture..With a negative Cat scan and Thyroid panel he has made the decision that your situation can wait until an appointment with a neuro..Please be sure you are not under unusual stress...Take a few deep breaths and focus on the positive and time will pass quickly..
