Neurontion For Panic and Anxiety

Hi,

I have tried several ssri for panic attancks and axniety non have worked very well for me and I was unable to tolerate most of them. I also tried Nardil it worked better but made me so tired I had to get off it. My doctor now wants me to try Neurontin. I dont know much about this med but I am really scared to take it. I currently take 1.5mg of ativan to help get me though the day. Is Neurontin a safe drug and can it be taken with ativan. Also I know this drug is new in the treatment of panic and anxiety disorders is there any info available on how effect this drug is for these disorders.

Neurontin (gabapentin) is a new medication initially used as adjunctive (additional) treatment for partial seizures.

Studies for it's use in bipolar disorder and anxiety are currently being done.  Neurontin has few side effects, but its effectiveness is still under investigation.

At this time some psychiatrists may use it as adjunctive treat rather than monotherapy.

I recommend you discuss your concerns with your psychiatrist.

sir i am a surgeon
since 10 years i am taking alzoprolam .25mg
i have tried so many time to discontinue it but some how i was notable to do it
2ndly when ever i am operating measure cases i have to take same dose
if ido not take than i gets anxity symtoms (symptoms) which remains for 2 3 days
