Numb Penis

Numb Penis

Immediately upon my asking my now ex-husband for a short separation to resolve our communication problems and not gloss them over in the bedroom, his penis became numb to sensation, touch and feeling of orgasm, even though he continued to achieve erections and orgasm.  This was only with me, not with subsequent partners.  He feared I would go to another man at the time.  We never solved the communication problems and when I returned to our bedroom, the numbness continued.  In fact, it never went away.  We are divorced now and he is with a woman half his age (51).  This started when he was 46.  He is very angry toward me.  I feel his problem has to be psychological, but no one I have asked seems to have heard of this reaction.  He exhibits many signs of depression, but is in the middle of male menopause and denies it all.  Any information would be appreciated.

Dear Lin

Sexual dysfunction can be a symptom of biological problems orpsychological problems such as interpersonal conflicts or a combination of both. Sexual function can be adversely affected by any kind of emotional disorders (depression etc) and it can be life long or acquired. It can be generalized or limited to a certain situation or a specific partner. A thorough evaluation would be helpful for adequate diagnosis and treatment. Marital therapy would have been helpful.

Sincerely
HFHS-M.D.

It sounds to me like he is playing mind-f--k with you. You should just forget about him and move forward to better prospects.

Thank you for the explanation.  I had never heard of this response in any literature on sexual dysfunction.  Marital therapy did not work because he refuses to discuss this with anyone.  Obviously, it was easier for him to start over with a younger version than to address our problems.  He feels there is nothing wrong with him and that it was my fault.  It helps to have an explanation.
