Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder/Schizophrenia_

To whom it may concern,

When I was younger I suffered a very tramatic experience.  I was about 13 years of age and my bestfriend who at the time was diagnosed as a schizophrenic and with O.C.D.  She had invited me over through the phone saying : "come over at 8:00pm DON"T BE LATE"  Of course I ended up being late and showing up 20minutes after 8pm.  I entered her house, it was dark and all the lights were off.  I kept calling her name over and over again but she didn't answer.  I crept up to her bathroom to find her dead on the floor having slit her wrists.
What does this story have to do with my question.  I was diagnosed with O.CD's later on in life, I used to be completely unemotional about her death becasue of my disorder (which borderlined manic-depressive) and am now only starting to grieve which has become very difficult for me.  I am not sure what do?  Any advice you can offer would be great.
I am hoping I am not going down the same path as my friend once did.
                   Thanx,
                         Ling'
