Panic attacks, stress, anxiety and Cortisol

Hi, and thank you for such a wonderful service.  Could you please explain a little about panic attacks, anxiety and the possibility of hormones releasing into the body on a constant basis and poisoning the body?  Is it possible and do you know of any documented cases of someones physical problems, (i.e. abdominal pain, back pain, muscle aches, joint pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, fever and chills) being caused by the release of cortisol and other hormones into the body?  But initially caused from ones own mental state?
Mentally, I feel depressed.  I can't concentrate, I feel irritated and at times can throw fits of rage.  This comes and goes in varying degrees, but there's always a constant fuzz in my head and sometimes even an ache.  I struggle from day to day, I forget things easily and simply don't feel like myself at all.  Physically, I feel the symptoms described above every couple of weeks, it's incapacitating and it's always preceded by the mental state I described.  My questions are:  Is it possible for hormones to play this type of role?  Can it all be tied in with panic attacks and anxiety?  And, what kind of damage, if any, can hormones do to the mind and body when their released this way?  By the way, I'm a 29 year old male.  Forgive me if this question does not entirely fit this category and if possible, could you please forward to one of the other forums as I desperately need some answers.
Thank you,
Chris.
