Paxil Reaction or Anxiety?

Posted by Doris on August 12, 1999 at 20:33:24
Hi-
I started taking paxil 20mg (1st time ever) last saturday
and tuesday evening i woke up with blurred vision and it felt like my whole body was throbbing, especially my left arm. It stopped after about ten minues but it really freaked me out.
Since then i have been aware of a little pressure in the chest and arm which i think i felt three years ago when i was having anxiety attacks fairly frequently. My psychiatrist said the symptoms were unusual and to call him if it happened again.
I read where other people have experienced blurred vision with paxil  --any thoughts and does it go away as your body/mind adjust? Thank you.

Doris,
The incidence of blurred vision as a side effect of Paxil is about 4%, and may resolve with time. Throbbing body sensations and chest pain may be symptoms of anxiety. I recommend that you consult your physician for thorough medical evaluation of your symptoms, as well as discussing your concerns further with your treating psychiatrist.
