Post traumatic stress disorder

I would like to know if trauma can cause you to stay in a deep depression.  I was diagnosised with bi-polar but now all I seem to experience is the down side of the depression. Is that possible, to stay depressed . I can not go outside of my home alone.  I was attacked by a dog on my route as a meter reader.  I stay inside all the time and when I do go,(never alone) out I can't relax till I get back home. I have made my family upset because I won't participate in the usual family things, birthdays and holiday etc.  Can you help me understand what is going on with me? I have lost my job, my home and all that I have worked for.Is there anyway of getting financial help? My employer is self-insured and has done nothing but cause me more dispare.  Thank you in advance for your advice

You can try antidepressant medicationa and behavior therapy..both in combination work very well for what you have.

Hi Rae53Cup!
I would most definitely contact an attorney.  Do some research concerning the 'American Disabilities Act' or ADA.  This is a federal  and then contact an attorney.  It is very possible that you were unlawfully released of your duties.   Copy and paste the link below.  If it doesn't work, then type in 'Disabilities Act' in the search area.

You didn't state if you quit your job or if you were fired, but whether or not an employer is self insured, Insured by a company, or not insured at all, employers are required to comply with ADA rules and regulations.

My husband has been diagnosed with BiPolar Disorder and has had "Episodes" approx. every 4 years in which he needs at least 2 months off from work recovery time.  His employer wouldn't dare attempt to fire him for this disability.  It sounds like your employer/ex-emloyer has been uncooperative and out  of line.  Open your phonebook, get on the phone, and call all the attornies until you find one willing to help (I bet it doesn't take long to find one!)   Hope I've helped in some way.  I wish you all the best!  Valerie
