Prednisone for PTSD

Prednisone for PTSD

I have PTSD and COPD...

When I have an exaberation with my COPD the doctor has prescribed Prednisone. During the course of Prednisone I have found my mood elevated (I'm usually in a depressed meloncoly mood). Also I find that I am more productive and active. I have asked my VA(Veterans Affairs) doctor if I could remain on a moderate course of Prednisone but he said it isn't wise to do so because of the negative affects of prolonged use ( ie bone problems).

Personally I would like to go the course of prednisone because I manage to get out and do things that I normally don't do...example...helping the wife around the house...washing the car.

I am at a point where I want to self medicate with Prednisone which I can purchase overseas without a prescription....
Having been on a course of Prednisone many times I think I know how to regulate the doses.

What say you??....

Your doctor is right, prolonged use causes big problems. I saw you added note re the medications you are taking, and if they are not working well enough, then you should ask for an adjustment of them rather than trying the dangerous self medications...also, consider counseling at the va..
