Jill...My mother has taken Xanax off and on for the last 8-10 years or so.  She only takes it on an as-needed basis.  Since she has retired from her very stressful job, she is taking less.  I, like you, wonder what the long term effects of this drug would be.  Even if not taken on a daily basis.  Althought my mother doesn't seem dependant on it. - Like an addiction...Lisa
