Remeron vs Serzone for GAD and Panic Disorder

Remeron vs Serzone for GAD and Panic Disorder

I have been battling with GAD and Panic for about 5 years now.
I seem to have a lot of problems with Chronic Stress for
about 10 years now.

After having no success, in fact increased anxiety with
Paxil and Buspar, I started on Remeron last June.  (I have
been using Inderal (20Mg twice daily) for about 5 years
to control symptoms of MVP - mainly palpitations and
skipped beats).

At 15mg per day it seemed to be working very well only the
occasional Panic Attack about every 2 weeks or so.  Then
in the Middle of January it just kind of stopped working!!
Symptoms of GAD and Panic returned in earnest and I found
myself having alot of trouble getting through the work day,
as well as social gatherings etc.

My Dr. said take more (30 Mg per day) after 3 days I had to
stop, it seemed to be making me worse (I was extremely jumpy,
and was 'tingling' all the time.

Went off for a couple days. Then Dr. said try 7.5 Mg.
This didnt seem to help either.

IS THIS COMMON WITH REMERON, THAT ITS EFFECTIVNESS FADES??
I really thought I had
the answer until it stopped working, In fact my Dr. and
I were discussing trying to discontinue it this spring.

I tried getting completely off Remeron for a week, using
occasional "as needed" doses of Valium (< 2mg) to help with sleep
which was/is a real problem without Remeron.

This didnt seem to cut it either.

Now Im starting with SERZONE (100 MG twice a day then
increasing).

HOW SOON CAN I EXPECT SERZONE TO START HELPING WITH
SLEEP AND ANXIETY??

IS IT OK TO SUPPLEMENT SERZONE WITH VALIUM UNTIL
IT KICKS IN??

HOW EFFECTIVE IS SERZONE IN GENERAL, IT IS
VERY DISCOURAGING TO THINK YOU ARE GETTING BETTER ONLY TO
HAVE SYMPTOMS RETURN WORSE THAN EVER??

Thanks for any information you can provide

Serzone should give you some considerable relief in about 3 weeks. It is safe to add valium.

Another approach would be klonopin that is longer lasting and very effective for what you described.
