SSRI's and weight gain

What is the latest research regarding weight gain and SSRI's?  Is there a relationship?  If so, for which SSRI('s)?  and does the wieght gain continue even after the patient has stopped the medication?  In other words, do these medications permanently effect the metabolism?

Serotonin Specific Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs), like most psychotropic medications, may vary in their tendency to cause weight gain or weight loss. Prozac has the least association with weight gain, and may actually cause weight loss in some people. There are no adequate studies about the mechanism of SSRI-related weight gain, or about its reversibility after stopping medications.

I started Zoloft because of my inability to concentrate in school, one year later to the day I am fifty pounds heavier and look alot older than I did a year ago.  I am not only going through the hell of weaning off but I have a mess to clean up!!!
Now I am taking fish oil, Gotu Kola, and St. Johns Wort, I don't know if that will make any difference but at this point I am through with drugs especially now that I look like a grandmother rather than a thirty year old. M.E.
