Try both approaches above:ie a GOOD shrink that you trust and open up to(do you open up to yourself?).
And see a Gastroenterologist.
All the Medications you mention should help calm the Autonomic Nervous System(Visceral and Glandular) of its Adrenergic angst.IF USED AS DIRECTED!!!!!
Some by Central (CNS)Nervous System methods.
We all know stress can put ones gut in a knot, but surely a wise Doctor will rule out Physical if they go the Psychological cure or vias versa.
WHAT IF IT IS A BIT OF BOTH?.
How smart are The Doctors or are the DOGMATIC?

Dave,
My wife suffered for years with stomach aches, finally her gastroenterologist decided it was pyloric stenosis. This was corrected with surgery, the procedure is called a pylori-plasty. Ask your Dr about this. He may tell you that it's only seen in infants, but that's a farse. Please!! remember Dr's are just people too and don't have all the answers. Good luck and hope you feel better.

Try working with your "shrink" in a different way. Try to get beyond the symptoms and into what is bothering you about the way your life is working or turning out. Face the issues that cause the symptoms.

If after doing this, and taking the appropriate medications, you still are having symptoms, you should continue to pursue your intuition that there is something wrong physically.  But you must try this approach first.
