Sexual Disfunction?

Sexual Disfunction?

I was fresh out of the closet - actually just one week - met the man I was with for almost 7 years - I deeply love him and believe I want to spend the rest of my life with, but I'm not as sexually stimulated by him.  Our sex life was great for the balance of the relationship, but I began to get interested in others and acted upon it.  We experiemented with "alternative" sexual relationships with others, but my partner was too jealous to handle this option.  We have been broken up for almost a year and a half, but still live together in a two bedroom apartment.  He dated someone for almost a year, but now has broken up and we are re-examining our relationship.  We have thought about seeing individual theraptists, which we have both done in the past, or seeking a "relationship counselor"?, but not sure how we can figure this mess out.  We both say we want to be together forever, we have problems in other relationships, because we compare them to ours.  He says he has no problems with me sexually, but it's difficult for me to jump back into this with this issue.  I'm not sure if this is a sign the relationship is over and we are just going to be dear friends or is there a sexual disconnect with me? Please help guide me to an answer.

Jake,

It sounds like you are having more a relationship problem than sexual dysfunction.  The relationship itself is probably the cause of sexual problems especially if you are able to engage sexually with others or masturbate without difficulty.  It may be very helpful to see a therapist to sort through some of these concerns.  If the therapist believes you could benefit from couples therapy then proceed.  I hope this was helpful.

Sincerely,
