Sexual side effects of Paxil

Sexual side effects of Paxil

I have been on Paxil for about 2 years now for depression. Recently in the past 6 months, I started having problems keeping an erection. I stopped taking paxil about 3 weeks ago, and the problem seems to have gotten a little better, but I still have trouble ever now and then. Is this normal? The dosages I started out with was 20mg, then 10mg, and then 5mg when I finally quit.
My doctor said it could take several weeks to get the Paxil completely out of my system. Is this true? And are the side sexual side effects I described above normal for someone on Paxil?
Thanks

Yes, that is a common side effect with Paxil, and yes you will return to normal soon in this area, probably within the next two weeks.

Has anyone else had any experience/problems with this as well?

Took Paxil for two years and, yes, that was a problem. I would stop taking it a few days ahead if I knew "something" may happen on the weekend. I did find that taking viagra was very helpful too.

Buspar and Ritalin are supposed to counter these effects.  I take Ritalin but still had the problem unless I took Buspar on a regular basis as well.  My Doctor also recommended Ginko Biloba.  I take it but can not say how much it helps. An article I read also recommended URECHOLINE or Serzone but they are anti-depressants also.
Hope this helps
