Side Effects of Paxil

Side Effects of Paxil

In searching for information about Paxil, which I have been taking for about 4 weeks, I found that one of the side effects is "abnormal ejaculation".  Could you tell me what that means?

Bill,
Delayed ejaculation is one of the possible side effects of Paxil (Paroxetine), which is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. For some couples, the delay in ejaculation may be beneficial, if the male suffers from premature ejaculation. SSRI-related sexual side effects usually resolve after discontinuing the medication.
There are also other antidepressants such as Wellbutrin and Serzone that have less sexual side effects associated with them, and are sometimes used in combination with a SSRI to "treat" sexual side effects. I encourage you to discuss this issue further with your physician/psychiatrist.
