Small Children dealing with a Parent with Dementia.

My Ex husband has been reciently diagnosed with Skisophrenia and Dementia. He is 21 years older than me and we have a seven year old boy. When we were married he refused to get treated he has left bruises on my little boy large deep black bruises that covered an area about 8 inches wide and 11 inches long they were usually found on his back and buttocks. I found out from my little boy much later that he was using a board he had made into a paddle using plywood to beat my baby while he stayed with him unsupervised. I have no proof now that he did this but my little boy explaines it in detail All I can do at this point is not allow him visitations I have a court order demanding me to allow him visitations and no proof of abuse What can I do?  Is him having this desease and the word of a seven year old child enough proof for me to demand no visits?

I am not a lawyer, but I would bet it would be more than enough. You have to protect your child, this is a truly dangerous situation, and you might want the child welfare department to investigate this, they will be on your side.

Your husband is a man and the excuse that he beat a child because he had "schizophrenia and dementia" are unacceptable. You should contact your nearest assistant district attorney and ask if you can file an information that would lead to his indictment and imprisonment. Nothing gets my blood up that to hear of a child being beaten by an adult.
