Stress-casued depression effecting nervous system

I have a recurring issue - whenever I get overly stressed, my legs 'stop working'....after two visits to hospital with no diagnosis, a doctor finally thought it might be GBS but the symptoms don't match up 100%.
Sometimes I feel as though my legs are lead weights and I don't have the energy to move them...then when I do it is as though they are 'creaking' and I am some 100 year old who has just run a marathon.
Is stress / depression linked to failure of the nervous system somehow?
I need help but don't want to undergo anything invasive (as was the last suggestion to me by a doctor).

stress depression and anxiety can take on a life of their own and create the strangest, weirdest symptoms. Case in point, i kept complaining of head numbness that i was convinced was real. Finally, came to the right medication and it went away. That's one option if you think about it from the psychiatric viewpoint. Of course you have to rule out physical causes. Maybe you could try something that'll give you a boost like Geodon. When I took it I felt amazing almost high. This is basically what i know about the whole mind brain thing. Hope it helps.
