Which medication is best for me?

I recently experineced several life changing events-divorce, child going to college and a seriously ill friend.  My depression has not abated over the last few months and I have stated seeing a therapist.  He has suggested an antidepressent.  Which one will not cause weight gain?  Do any of them have the side advantage of decreasing appetite?  I want to be my old self again but absolutely do not want to gain any weight.  What do you suggest?

In regards to your concern about weight gain, I talked this over with my GYN last week.  She said that Wellbutrin is soon coming out with a medication that will curb nicotine and alcohol cravings, as well as act as an apetite supressant.  And all the while, will help with depression too!  Good luck.

I was givin Wellbutrin instead of Zyban when I wanted to quit smoking... Doctor said Wellbutrin has nearly the same composition as Zyban, but is covered by insurance.. I took it for three monts about 4 years ago and have not smoked since... Anyways, I did not gain any wieght in this time which is unusual for someone who was quiting cigarettes.. I would have to say out of Prozac, Paxil & Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin was the only med I did not gain weight on..
