Zoloft question..please help!

I have been taking Zoloft for 14 days now.  For the first week my doctor told me to take half a pill (12.5 mg) and then take the whole pill starting the next week (25 mg).  Throughout these 14 days I felt little waves of  nauseousness every day, nothing that ruined my day or that I couldn't handle.  When I went to see him this past Friday, he asked me what my side effects were and I told him and he also wanted to know if they were still happening.  When I answered yes to that question he seemed a little confused and said they should have subsided by now(10 days into taking them), but told me to keep taking them for a few more days to see what happens.  Anyway, Saturday night I took my pill at 9 pm like I always do.  I happened to be out with a few friends at a bar and around 1 am I started to feel so unbelievably dizzy, nauseous, and weak that I needed to leave right away.  About 20 hours later I still felt the exact same way.  The nauseousness was so severe I'm surprised I didn't throw up.  The dizziness got a little better, but it's still there and i'm still always nauseous (just not as bad as that day).  I am wondering if anyone could share their experiences with Zoloft and how long their side effects lasted and if they just randomly got worse?  I am not sure if I should call my doctor and have him switch me to a different SSRI or not yet...

You would be well advised to ask your doctor for a new medication. There is no reason to put up with those kind of side effects...also, if you drink while taking this medication, the side effects will be worse, and in cases like you describe, might actually be dangerous.
