anxiety - Nausea

Quite recently (about a week or so) I have been experiencing nausea on a daily bases. It mostly occurs when I wake up in the morning and  then it dies out through-out the day. In the mornings I feel mild nervousness in my stomach and that usually leaves me with no appetite for the rest of the day. The problem is, I don't know what has abruptly caused this to happen...my sleeping patterns are undistributed ( 7-8 hours of sleep a night) and I wouldn't say I am overly stressed about anything, but these episodes of nausea have left me with a very poor appetite and thought of food is enough to bring back this intense feeling of sickness, especially the smell of food. I don't think it's anything physical because I recently had blood work done and everything seemed to be fine. It is mostly triggered by being alone - ie. having to meet someone on my own in a public place. But the thing is, I am not intimidated by people as I often went out regularly without experiencing any nervousness or discomfort beore these episodes of nervousness/ nausea began.  As I said earlier, this has only been going on for a week and I worry that it might last for a long period of time.

What is happening to me and how can I relieve it?

There are several possibilities to consider. It could be the new pill...just stop and see; It could be early anxiety...some phobic symptoms, and that requires therapy. It could be something in your stomach that is not picked up in blood work, and that means you should have a check up with your doctor.

It might be the beginning of an anxiety problem, which would mean it's time for therapy.  But one question -- did you happen to begin a new multivitamin or multimineral or other supplement recently?  Some can cause short-term nausea, particular if the iron isn't in an assimilable form.

I actually did start using a new multivitamin AND iron supplement less than 2 weeks ago because I was a bit low on iron (but it's not quite an iron deficiency.)

I have been iron deficient and know that that can affect mood.  I also found it made me quite anxious.
Iron supplements also decreased my appetite.

It's interesting that it improves as the day goes on.  Why is that?

I think part of the anxiety is now due to you attributing nausea, etc to going out.

I don't trust myself to identify a potential cause.

Try stopping the supplement and see if the nausea goes away.  That'll tell you at least if it was the supplement.  You should take multis with a meal, it helps prevent the nausea.  Iron isn't the only culprit, but it's the most common one.  If it's the supplement, just try a different one.  New chapter and Mega Foods tend to make ones that are pretty easy to assimilate.  Try eating something, even just a banana or something, when you get up and see if it helps.

On the bright side, today I felt a bit better  - I guess the feeling of nausea skipped today. Not sure why, but I have a feeling it's because I went on a  run with a friend last night.

But I will be seeing my family doctor later today before anything worsens.

Sorry!  A girl's gotta ask.

Maybe the run help eased your tension and the companionship made you feel more connected and less alone.  ??  It's great that you feel better anyway.
