beta blockers

I have read in this forum that beta blockers can be used as an anti-depressant, what are some of the drug names, is this a common usage, and how do they work? Thanks

Beta blockers are not used for depression, in fact, often cause depression.

beta blockers are used in mental health for anxiety/panic attacks and i have also heard that they can cause depression.

I've been using beta blockers for years now for my hpertension and a good side effect is that it slows down hand tremmors and seems to keep the heat in check when I'm having panic attacks.
