Diane,

When you feel some is at risk of harming themselves you may petition the courts who can order an evaluation and treatment.  If there is no imminent risk/danger then the best you can do is be supportive of healthy behavior, set limits by not encouraging or endorsing in any way negative behaviors, and suggest an objective third party evaluate the situation.  Unfortunately, I have no idea what the DIB-R test is. Please consult a personal psychiatrist for further help.  Review this forums archives using borderline personality as a keyword.

Sincerely,

HFHS MD-JM

Diane, in some states you can take your daughter to an emergency room, tell them she is a serious risk (to either herself or others) and they can call in a psychiatrist who can do an involuntary admittance to a psych ward.  I know this can be done in the state of Indiana.  If your daughter won't go to the emergenct room, call your local police department.  They can pick her up and have her involuntarily committed until you can get a court order.  (State of Indiana allows involuntary commitment without a court order for a maximum of 48 hours.)

I've just been to my primary care doctor, who thinks I have post traumatic
stress disorder (definitely), and maybe am an obsessive compulsive (note -
maybe).  They have prescribed Luvox to help with the anxiety.  I had to
leave my home because I couldn't control my temper.  Have you seen people
like this have their symptoms cured, and will Luvox be the best thing.
Because I was raped when I was a kid (several times), I have real difficulty
achieving orgasm.  Will the Luvox hurt that?  I'm also on Elavil for
depression, but that does not seem to have the sex side effects.  I'm
terribly worried I'm going to lose my husband and 13 year old son over this,
so I moved out to a house 30 minutes away to relieve some of the stress at
home.  Please let me know.  Cindy
