dizziness/panic attacks

For two years, I have suffered from dizziness -- first it started during orgasm and now it has happened even during deep sleep (wake me up) -- I get it when I unknowingly eat MSG, drink any alcohal. have nutrasweet or eat chocolate -- I get it when I walk into parties with lots of friends.  It's so bad that it can make me throw up.

I have tried paxil, lyrica, aleve and petadolex -- some have thought it is a migraine varient.  Now, I am two days into 10 mg of beta blockers.  I had a terrible dizziness last night -- so I am pessimistic that the beta blockers will work.

I should note that I have had 2 MRI's (healthy brain, eek and eeg test, cortoid doppler, etc)  I do have a lot of "tension" in my neck and workout a lot creating muscle soreness there as well.  Further, I find that "dieting" brings more dizzy episodes.

I do need help -- I avoid sex, I want to avoid parties, I get dizzy at school functions -- I wish i could eat something differently to help -- but no matter.

What do you suggest?

You mentioned that your dizziness began during sex.  I wonder if you may have Positional Vertigo?  This occurs when crystals located in the inner ear are dislodged by a jerk of the head (can occur during active sex).  One of the symptoms is dizzinessness during sleep that wakes you and  nausea/vomiting.  If this is your problem, none of the meds you have been taking will work.  Your MD can give you a simple test in the office for this condition, or you can see an ENT for diagnoses.  If you have this type of vertigo, you can perform simple exercises called Epler's Manuever to relocate the crystals in the ear back to where they belong. You also need to learn how to mentaly focus your attention.  You can take an over the counter med for dizziness/nausea and you will be better about a week or so.  There is no "cure" for this condition, but you can control it and learn what to do to avoid further episodes.

Most of the time dizziness is cause by the inner ear(could be anxiety too) but to rule everything out,I guess a visit to an ENT would be very wise....

Because your dizziness occurs in social situations now, I think that you are dealing with an anxiety equivalent, so why don't you ask your doctor for a trial of klonopin so you can treat the anxiety directly, and also consider talking to a therapist in order to find the source of your anxiety.
