effexor xr

Is it good to stay on this drug as a life long aid. I was put on 300mg and told since I was doing good on it Ishould keep taking it as when I tried cutting dosage my doctor felt I was going backwards?

Your description suggests to me that if you were to get therapy along with the medication, you would not have to stay on it...that is, the hurts you described can be worked through so they are no longer so devastating and you can learn to live with them, and learn from them, and move on....then you won't need the medication.

What do you mean by going  backward?  Cutting Effexor can cause withdrawal symptoms, which is what you may have experienced.

meaning that I became more depressed started to think and remember all the things that put me there in the first place. there was alot of hurt from people who I cared about and I thaught cared leaving me feeling somewhat betrayed. I guess all I can say is all the hurt started comming back. I did better with the effexor able to forget all that hard I guess for anyone to understand long story, hard to relate. sorry
