fluvoxamine vs. other meds???

My son was diagnosed with OCD with a tic disorder nine years ago.
he has been on Fluvoxamine since.  The medication has surpressed his OCD and tics, but his major complaint about the medication is that he feels his head is foggy, inability to concentrate, extremely tired all the time and short term memory loss.  He is currently a college student and he feels his grades are suffering due to side effects of the medication.  He is currently on 50 mg/ once a day, he tried to taper off his medication, but after a week or so his OCD and tics came back, which also interfered in his daily routine. Is there a safe combinations of medicines that would surpress his OCD and tics, yet give him focus and clarity?????   He will see his physician in a few weeks to address his concerns, but as a concerned mother I need to get as much information as possible!

Thank you

There are many combinations of medications, but it is often a case of trial and error, and it should be managed by a psychiatrist who specializes in this rather than a general physician.  It's especially important that he gets it right now because if not it could effect his college  career.
