lack of concentration

my husband is 61 & i keep noticing his concentration is not there exemple ; we are 4 or 5 people talking after i tell him that one of us made a coment & he goes relly? i did not hear it & i go but you where right there when we talk that subject is this normal?

There are many possible explanations for this to consider...his attention may wander because he has other things on his mind; he may be fighting off anxiety and blocking things; he may have a hearing problem, etc....trying to figure out what is happening is more important than the quesiton of normality.
