no more effexor

I have been on effexor for about 6 years, on varying doses of 75-150.  Supplimented with xanex for panic attacks (been 6m since Ive needed that) and ambien for sleeping problems (insomnia and night terrors)
my life is no longer in a state of flux, and I want to come off of the effexor.  I am also unable to pay for the rx anymore.  My insurance will not allow me to take venafelxine instead of effexor, and the price difference is outrageous.
I dont know whether I can go cold turkey off of 6m of 75.  I cant call my Dr, as I have no money for the copay an appt would cost me.

You could talk to your doctor over the phone about this, probably with no charge. In general, you should wean off this medication over a three week period...the first week cut dose down to lowest possible; the second week take that dose every second day; the third week every third day..then stop, but cover yourself with xanax for a week.
