opitates for depression

I have been taking vicodin for several years now, initially for back problems. Looking back, I wish the Doctor would have just told me to loose wieght, eat right, start moving, instead of prescribing the drug that has me by my throat now...

I can barely remember living a day without taking a pill. When I tried to stop, (by myself which is careless and dangerous), I felt extremely uncomfortable and very depressed. I would then pop a pill or two and wow...my depression was lifted. Now I live in a state of mind where I believe that I cannot be (normal), or happy without this medication. Sad, isn't it? I hope to spread some info and personal experience to those out there who are thinking about taking this medication for any reason at all. It is very addictive and leaves you emotionally and physically dependent.
Sincerely,
Hope408

Thanks for reminding people of this very real danger, and the basic fact that in most cases life style change is the best medicine of all.  You should now see an addiction specialist to help you get off of this..the longer you take it, the more damage it can do.
