post heart surgery and meds

my dad, 74 yrs of age had a 5 way bypass 2 yrs ago. he has never gotten his get up and go back what soever. Can his meds be a factor? He takes prenovil in the am with llipitrol and cumidon. and in the pm toprol and lexapro which he has recently been put on to help his lack of appetite and fatigue.

the first three are heart medicines and will not cause depression, but it is common for people after heart surgery to be down for a while, lose their optimism, and then slip into a low energy mood.  The Lexapro can help with that, but also a few good counseling sessions might help even more.
