schizophrenia and sundowners?

my friend was diagnosed with schizophrenia. when she takes her meds she is great. but she stopped taking them and refuses to now. my question is can schizophrenia be connected to sundowners? lately she gets worse in the evenings. her mom was schizophrenic. it is possible she has been wrongly diagnosed due to her history. she wont go to a doctor and of course her husband cant make her. he has contacted adult mental health services and all they say is no one can make her do anything if she doesnt want to. her husband works part time and he is worried that something will happen while he is gone. anyway getting back to the question. is it possible?

That syndrome is not well understood but usually assosiated with Alzheimers rather than schizophrenia.....tough set of options when someone won't get help or take medications..best thing to do is a concerted effort by love ones insisting that she get care.
