ultram with celexa not a good pair?

ultram with celexa not a good pair?

on the pharmacy information I received with my script, ultram it stated do not take this medication if presently taking celexa. Can you tell me why, since I do take Celexa 60mg daily.

I am sorry, I do not know the answer, but you can get the answer from your pharmacist.

I see on one site it says it can cause serotonin syndrome

on site referenced possible seizure but another said the pharmacist was being overly cautious

Here are the symptoms of serotonin syndrome in case u are interested:
Cognitive effects: mental confusion, hypomania, hallucinations, agitation, headache, coma.
Autonomic effects: shivering, sweating, fever, hypertension, tachycardia, nausea, diarrhea.
Somatic effects: myoclonus/clonus (muscle twitching), hyperreflexia, tremor.

i think it is the pharmacist's job to warm you about POSSIBLE interactions.  Doesn't mean it's going to happen but you need to know what to watch for just in case.  If it really concerns you talk to your doc, maybe one the the meds can be switched for another.
