zoloft vs effexorxr

I was on effexorxr for a number of years(7) and went off of it.  I started noticing I was "down" so went to a doctor who prescribed zoloft.  Why does zoloft give me such diarrhea?

Paxiled has given you some good information...if the diarrhea is bad you should take some medication to control it,but if it persists, then you should ask your doctor about changing medications.

All of these can cause digestive problems.  Effexor could have, too.  You just never know.  Keep in mind, Zoloft is very different than Effexor, it's a different class of drug.  It tends to be less problematic than Effexor, which is why your psychiatrist might have recommended it, but it's also a weaker antidepressant since it doesn't target norepinephrine, only serotonin.  I'm not the doctor, by the way, just a user!
