DEPRESSION: SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES COMMUNITY
Children of Bipolar Parents?

Children of Bipolar Parents?

Hi, my name is Kitty and I'm...kind of desperate, at the moment.

Does anyone here know of a support group (ideally on MedHelp) for teenage/adult children of bipolar parents?

My mother has it (along with a great many other problems), which may have contributed genetically to my developing an eating disorder. She keeps getting treatment, then deciding she's "all better" and stopping her medication. I think that's where we are at the moment -- it's pretty easy to tell -- and I'm worried that all the chaos in the house is triggering a relapse of my ED, not to mention my anxiety problems and PTSD crap.

If you know of any, please send them my way. I have literally no one to talk to about this. The rest of my family are in total denial.

Hi Kitty,

I don't know of any specific groups but you may want to try NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness.) I know it isn't med help but it is something.

Also you can come and talk to all of us if you need to. We all have bipolar and are trying to be well. There are other family members on here as well. At least you could talk to people who know about bipolar if nothing else. :(

Hi,
Also you can try DBSA (Depression Bipolar Support Alliance) or Al-Anon.
I hope this helps.
