Abilify

Does anyone know much about the drug Abilify?  I have been taking the lexapro for a few weeks, and not sure that it is the right drug for me.  About four days after I started taking it I felt really stranged, confused, depressed.  I started the med for anxiety/panic.  Not feeling as bad now, but still alittle down.  I took lexapro a year ago for just about a month, but did not have this side affect. The dr said we could either change antidepressants of try taking .5 of the lexapro and 2.5 of the abilify along with it.  Why the combo?

I'd give Abilify more time.

There is OUTSTANDING research showing that, in conjunction with a standard anti-depressant, it is extremely good at treating depression (especially treatment resistant depression).

Namaste,

Lexapro is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Lexapro affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression or anxiety.

Lexapro is used to treat anxiety and major depressive disorder.

Lexapro can have any or all of the side effects that you describe, but they usually dissipate or go away completely after continued use.

Medications, especially those prescribed for psychiatric disorders are often prescribed  combinations of psychotropic medications to either minimize the side effects of another medication or to better control your symptoms.

I currently take three (3) separate medications and this combination is the only one I have found in over six (6) years that works well for me.

So have some patience and understand that your symptoms may not go away right away and that it might take some trial and error before your symptoms are somewhat under control.

Whatever happens, I wish you the best.
