Adding ABILIFY to current A.D. meds

Im looking for advice/experience anyone has adding abilify to there current anti depressant.Im asking for bith myself and my husband.He takes 50mg if zoloft&refuses2take more because@100 he experiences serious sexual side effects&doesnt want2switch to a different kind of primary A.D. I take300mg of effexor XR.We both feel like the meds we r taking r helpong to keep us out of a severely depresse state but know we can feel better.As for me I dont want to up my effexor dose for a few reasons mainly because Im on a high dose,if I miss it by just a couple hours I feel awful&dnt think a higher dose will make a difference.Ive read(google)that abilify gets u2that point where u should feel normal.I have become sort of sedate.I have trouble sleeping but when I finally do I will sleep for long spans of time,I have a big issue w/going out2socialize etc.Ive read it helps with that.Does anyone have experience w/abilify.I really think my husband should try a different med instead of zoloft as his dose is so low but he refuses.This is more about me(he doesnt have sleep issues,the anxiety issues I do or not nearly as severe&just want to feel normal,not lethargic and such social anxiety issues).

Thank u Annieinside.I went2my dr yesterday& asked about adding  abilify(4me+my husband).She said yes it helps a lot but she will no longer prescribe it2people who dnt get it already because abilfy is apparently an anti -sicotic originally&thay make u gain weight(A lot&u cnt lose it).She said.she has1patient who cnt go w/out it.She weighed185 when she started taking it&I believe ahe said after2yrs the woman weighs over400lbs.She said EVERY person she precribed it to(over30)every1started gaining weight w/n6months(usually earlier)w/n a yr@least35-40lbs&u continue2gain NO matter what u do2try2lose it.Im only1size away from my prepregnancy size:-)She said its cause w/most others(95%or more)gain so much&its cause most anti physcotics make u gain a lot of weight,most of them have been fixed but not Abilify.She gave us both wellbutrin that does the same as far as helping but NO weight gain.Im.so hapy she knew about abilfy.She said because Abilify is pretty new thats why it hasnt been fixed.I took welbutrin ALONE yrs ago4depre

I take an AD along with Abilify. Within a week after Abilify was added I started to feel better. Right now I take 15 mg but I have taken as much as 30mg. I did get akathisia from it (restlessness ) but added propranolol which stopped it. Akathisia is a common side effect.
