Anyone feel like their speeding from Zoloft?

My Dr. prescribed me Zoloft, 50 mg. to take when I get mood swings and depression associated with my menstrual cycle. Normally I'm on a daily 10 mg. dose of Lexapro. I am not to take the Lexapro on the days I take the Zoloft. Anyway I took my first Zoloft this morning and feel like I've been speeding since. My heart rate isn't high or anything but I feel like an electrical current is going through me and I feel a bit shaky inside. I feel real fidgety too like I can't sit still. I don't know if these are side effects of Zoloft or mild signs of Serotonin Syndrome.

Meds are trial and error until you find the right ones for you.All the best.

Hi, prozac did that to me.  We all react differently to drugs.  What suits one person, does not suit another.

I'm starting to "come down" now thankfully. I really hate that speeding feeling. Especially since I have anxiety to begin with.

Well I just saw my Dr. recently for another issue and he asked how my moods have been. Have I gotten anymore depression. I told him my depression follows a certain cycle like, I'll feel fine for a week, then feel depressed and tearful for 4-5 days, then I'll feel fine, then be depressed. It's like that every month. He told me Zoloft was an intermmitent antidepressant that can be taken on an as needed basis.

Typically, SSRIs aren't prescribed together. It would take a much higher dose to cause serotonin syndrome, and your symptoms would be MUCH more severe.

Meds can affect different people differently.  For some, they may get drowsy, for others, the med is more activating.

What I don't get is the use of Zoloft as an "as needed" med.  Zoloft really isn't effective until it is allowed to build up in the system.  I think you need to talk to your doctor.  See if perhaps there is a better option.  I just can't see how taking Zoloft for a few days would even be helpful.  If anything, maybe you just need a dosager increase on the Lexapro to improve your overall mood.  Do you have PMDD?

Definitely talk to your doc!

Stop taking it and talk to the doctor!! It sounds more like its making you high than it is helping you! Maybe you even just need a lower dose, but I would consult your doctor! Medications like that people abuse just to get the feelings you have described. Does your other med do this too?
