Anyone have any experience with Buspar?

by Hensley258, Nov 09, 2009 02:57PM
I have just about burned myself out on Benzos like Klonopin to treat the GAD part of my depression. You know how Benzos are, they work for many months and then the body builds a resistance and back comes the severe anxiety.

Buspar is designed for anxiety and is not a Benzo. I was wondering it it may be an alternative to my failed Benzos.
Question being: does it work? How well did it work for you? How long did it work for you and how long does it take to work?

If you have experience with Buspar please let me know.

Buspar worked for about a year for me. It was one of those that stopped working. Everyone is different.

Is your anxiety dissorder pretty bad also?

Damn Klonopin was working so well for about 4 months. I felt so much better and more productive while taking it. Now it's starting to fizzle out.

I have severe depression along with GAD. Not sure which is worse, but the anxiety seems to be more difficult to control for long periods.

I had anxiety badly not so much now. I used to not be able to go into a store. All the people and things were sensory overload.  I did HVAC work and everything was hard with the anxiety. I think it is the seroquel that has helped the most with anxiety. I did not want to take it because it is called an anti psychotic. Of course everyone is different. I also am on Depakote. I have been on most of the anti anxiety medicines. I have a long list of medicines that either did not work or worked for awhile. Thirty years ago they just loaded you up on heavy stuff and you did not feel a thing now there are so many options. It does take a good Doctor and trial and error.

Good luck,
Alex
